1] Run SFC and DISM tool
1. At first, run the command prompt as administrator.
2. Type the following command in the Command Prompt window –
sfc /scannow
3. Now press the Enter key and wait until the procedure ends. It may take a while to finish the process, so don’t interrupt it.
Restart your computer once it completes the scanning process and see if it works. If running the system file checker tool doesn’t work, you will need to run the DISM tool using the following instructions –
Right-click on Start and select Command Prompt (Admin).
When UAC prompts on the screen asking for your permission, click the Yes button.
Now type the following commands in the command prompt window –
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Press the Enter key to start the scanning process. It may take around 20 minutes, so be patient.
After completing the process, restart your computer and check for the error code. If you encounter the same issue, continue to the next solution.
2] Use Registry Editor
If running SFC and DISM didn’t work, then it’s time to check the registry editor. Follow the below instructions and see if there is any incorrect registry entry –
1. Open Command Prompt as administrator.
2. Type the following text in the Command Prompt window.
whoami /user
3. Press Enter to get the Security ID. Once you get the ID, note down it for further use.
4. Now click on Start, type Registry Editor, and press Enter.
5. In the Registry Editor window, go to the following location –
6. On the left side, expand the ProfileList folder, and you’ll see the security ID of all the users on your computer.
7. Now select the Security ID you noted earlier.
8. If you find two identical security keys there, select the ID without ‘.bak’ at the end.
9. Double click on the ‘ProfileImagePath’ entry to correct the value data.
10. Type the correct profile path and click OK. The correct path should be C:Users’YourProfileName’.
11. Now delete the SID key (with .bak at the end) and then restart your device.
12. After your computer restarts, try to log in with your profile.
3] Boot into Safe Mode to fix temporary profile error in Windows 10
1. Right-click on Start and select Settings > Update & Security > Recovery.
2. Under the Advanced startup section, click on the ‘Restart now’ button.
