How to Install and Uninstall Microsoft Paint app on Win 10

On Windows 10, Microsoft Paint is a basic graphics and painting editor program that has been used in all Windows versions. However, starting with the Windows 10 21H2, the Microsoft Paint is now available on the Store app, which signifies the app has now become a Microsoft Store app. That means like other apps, you can now install and uninstall Microsoft Paint app from the Store whenever you want.

Install or Uninstall Paint app on Windows 10 21H2 or later

If your device is running on 21H2 or the higher version, you’re able to install or uninstall the Paint app using the Settings app. Follow the below instructions to manage it.
Uninstall Paint app

1. Press the Windows+I keys to open Settings.

2. In the Settings app, select the Apps category.

3. Then go to the Apps & features section.

4. Scroll down in the right pane and select the Paint app once you find it.

5. Now click on the Uninstall button.

6. Again click the Uninstall button to confirm it.

Once you perform the above instructions, your Paint app will be uninstalled from your device.
Install Paint app

1. First of all, navigate to the Microsoft Store page.

2. On the following page, click on the Get button.

3. After downloading the Paint app, click the Open button.

4. Then select the Install option.

Once you complete the above instructions, you will see the Paint app gets installed on your computer. Kindly note that at the time of writing this post, the Paint app is officially not available for download.

Install or Uninstall Microsoft Paint app on Windows 10 21H1 and older

If your computer is running on version 21H1, 20H2, 1909, or older, then you can use the Optional features in the Settings app to install or uninstall the Paint app.
Uninstall Paint app
To Uninstall the Microsoft Paint app, follow the below steps.

1. Right-click on Start and select Settings to open the Settings app.

2. Now select Apps > Apps & features.

4. Under the “Apps & features” section, choose the Optional features option.

5. On the next page, scroll down and select the Microsoft Paint app.

6. Then click on the Uninstall button and it will start uninstalling under the Latest actions section.

7. After that, reboot your device.

Once you complete the above instructions, the Paint app will be removed from your computer.
Install Paint app
To install the Paint app in Windows 10, use the following steps:

1. Press the Windows+Q keys to open the Settings app.

2. Then select Apps > Apps & features.

4. Under the “Apps & features” section, select the Optional Features option.

5.  On the next page, click Add a feature (with Plus symbol) under the Optional features section.

6. Type Microsoft Paint in the search box.

7. Once you find it, mark the checkbox and click on the Install button as shown in the above figure.

Once you click on the Install button, you will see the Microsoft Paint app start installing under the Latest actions on your computer.
